I guess it's something to do with England being the land of cricket and rugby, and the states being home to American Football - Europe is more about soccer, I guess, where a nice pair of briefs suffice... although like you I personally prefer a jock for all sports, and the gym. Can't beat them for support and comfort, they stop everything bouncing more…

    Hi,
What an invaluable topic! Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen such great input or such an intellectual discussion about a jockstrap.

I think it's an important part of the sports wear athlete's have, especially playing American football. I wouldn't know, since I"m not a guy and do not play such sport. I can't think of any more…

... a jockstrap, also known as athletic supporter, is a man's undergarment for use in sports ... it's kind of like a bra only for men ... it is a kind of support pouch for the genitals with two straps extending from the bottom of the pouch across the buttocks to the waistband ... and now you know! : more…

Perhaps it's a public school thing wearing a jock. But all of us used to wear a jockstrap for all kinds of sport. And a jock with cup for hard ball games like cricket.

I agree that Americans wear them probably more than we do though.

Medically better to wear one. more…

    American's wear them.

I've not noticed English guys wearing them. The "cup" was the support of choice during my rugby playing days.

I only bought a jockstrap after stopping playing rugby. more…
